Community of Hope is an inclusive gathering that is an important part of the life of Community Presbyterian Church. Whoever you are and wherever you are in your journey, you are welcome to pull up a chair any Wednesday at 6:00 PM.

Not everyone’s faith journey looks the same, and not everyone finds their way into a traditional Sunday morning service. Community of Hope exists for that reason.

Every Wednesday evening, a varied group of people gathers for something informal, honest, and a little hard to categorize. There is a topic each week, enough structure to give the conversation a direction, and plenty of room to question, push back, and explore. No one is expected to have the answers. That is rather the point.

What to Expect

Each gathering is different, but the atmosphere is consistently welcoming and low-pressure. Throughout the year, outside speakers join the group to open up new perspectives on topics that matter. Past speakers have included a licensed psychologist speaking on self-care, a college professor whose research focuses on LGBTQ+ people and aging, and a speaker on racial equity, among others.

Many people who come to Community of Hope describe it as exactly what they need to get through the week. Some have felt excluded or burned by traditional church. Some are skeptical. Some are just curious. All of them are welcome here.

What We Believe

We believe that every person is created in the image of God and carries sacred worth. We believe that God’s love is radically inclusive and excludes no one. We believe that the diversity of the people in this room, and in the world, is something to celebrate rather than manage. We try to live that out in how we treat each other.
